What to expect

Is getting involved in the local alumni chapter for me? What do chapters do? Can I really take on something new when I already have my career and my family? Don’t worry! We’ve got the answers for you! This guide will help you determine if chapter engagement is right for you.

Levels of commitment

Event Attendee

Super easy!

  • Step One - Check your email or your chapter’s webpage and register to attend events that fit your interests and schedule.
  • Step Two - Have a great time with fellow alumni.
  • Step Three - Repeat!

Event Host

Own a business that would make a great event venue? Work with our chapter board to come up with a concept that works for you, Miami, and our guests. We’d love to plan a chapter event that features and supports your business and our alumni!

Chapter Board Member

If you’re looking for a new hobby or something to fill your free time, volunteer to be part of the chapter board. Attend a few meetings throughout the year, share your thoughts and ideas, and help plan events. Many boards have chair positions that you can tailor to your interests and skills (social media, sports and rec, community service, etc.).

Chapter Leader (President/VP)

A chapter leader is someone who wants to represent Miami University, build and engage with a local network of RedHawks, plan and facilitate alumni events, and have some fun! The extra time commitment stems from coordinating board meetings, presence at chapter events, and communicating with the Miami staff. Definitely manageable for a busy professional or parent. Don’t forget… we’re here to help at every step of the way!

Interested in getting involved in one of these capacities? Fill out the Chapter Interest Form, and you’ll be contacted soon by one of our staff members.
