 Winifred Clowe Pearson passes away Aug. 27 at age 94

Winifred Clowe Pearson was Miami’s No. 1 fan and biggest cheerleader and will be remembered as a fun-loving Miamian.

Miami University's First Lady from 1981-1992 passed away in Centerville, Ohio, on Aug. 27, 2021. Her husband and closest friend since childhood, Paul G. Pearson was Miami's 18th president.

She was beloved by all who knew her, which was nearly everyone in the Miami and Oxford community and well beyond because Winifred genuinely cared. She never forgot your name and asked about your family and interests every time she saw you.

Winifred remained active in the community, whether serving on the boards of hospice or children’s services or serving salads at an Oxford Methodist Church luncheon. She continued to attend university activities and Alumni Weekend events until she moved to Centerville to be closer to her daughter, Jean.
 
She was made an honorary alumna of Miami University in 1986 in recognition of her “tireless efforts."
 
Mrs. Pearson, the honor has been all ours.
