Interested in learning more about the startup scene in Cincinnati? Join us Tuesday, March 28 for Miami at the Merc! Held at the Mercantile Library, Miami alumni and friends can participate in a professional enrichment panel showcasing Miami President Greg Crawford and three executives who are Miami alumni. They’ll discuss entrepreneurship and take questions from the audience. Why is Cincinnati a hotbed for startups? What role can higher education play in continued innovation? Register by March 27 to be a part of this event!

Crawford is an accomplished innovator with 21 credited patents. The event also features author Dave Knox '03, co-founder of The Brandery and managing director at WPP Ventures, Carisa Miklusak '99, CEO and president at tilr and Jon Nielsen '05, partner and chief business officer at Everything but the House.

Provided by the Miami University Alumni Association, the Professional Enrichment Series supports Miami alumni with professional development and networking events designed to enhance their professional and personal potential.

Cocktails and appetizers are at 5 p.m. with the panel discussion and Q&A from 5:30-6:30.

Cost to attend is $25 and includes light hors d'oeuvres, beer and wine and a copy of the book "Predicting the Turn: The High Stakes Game of Business Between Startups and Blue Chips" by Dave Knox. RSVP by March 27.  We encourage you to RSVP as soon as possible as space is limited at the library.

The Mercantile Library, located in the heart of downtown Cincinnati, was founded in 1835 by 45 merchants in the pursuit of self-education and networking and is one of around twenty surviving membership libraries in the United States. For 180 years, the Mercantile Library has continuously sought out dynamic lecturers and speakers, experts on a wide array of subjects – politics, art, literature, science, religion and more.

Parking information:

  • Garages and on-street spots available. Downtown Cincinnati Inc. guide
  • There are multiple public garages with $6 parking on Walnut Street just north of 5th Street where you will have just a one block walk to the Mercantile Library
  • Wheelchair access to the venue is only available from the 414 Walnut Street entrance. We recommend a drop at the door for any guests needing this assistance, and their party can continue to a garage
