For a university that’s said to have one of the largest percentages of married alumni—roughly 14 percent, to be somewhat exact—Valentine’s Day is a special day at Miami.
Whether you met in Oxford or beyond the bricks, Miami Mergers are a special part of our University’s tradition. As part of that tradition, the Miami University Alumni Association has mailed Valentines to all Merger couples every year since 1973. More than 27,000 Mergers received the 2013 edition of the Merger Valentine, which went a little outside the box (or, “envelope,” if you will) for its latest installment.
The 2013 Merger Valentine captures the story of how Miamians meet, fall in love and seal it with a kiss underneath the Upham Arch through a series of haiku poems featured on four decorative Valentine’s Day coasters—perfect for cold drinks to celebrate the day of love!
With this year’s Valentine and others, love is certainly in the air around Oxford this February. On behalf of the Alumni Association, happy Valentine’s Day, from Miami to yoU!
