Remember your M Book?
The M Book is a resource guide, written by upperclass Miami students to help incoming students to make the best of their time here, as well as a keepsake for alumni to remember the great times they had while at Miami. The M Book has been published off and on since 1897 and is a Miami tradition that we all hope continues well into the future.
According to Bob Schmidt, Miami University Archivist "The M Book served for many years as a freshman orientation manual that tried to convey what was needed to be a good Miamian. There was also a companion handbook 'For Women Only' that for a few years served as a women’s 'M Book'. It had sections on such things as proper dress, social etiquette and table manners. Neither the M Book nor 'For Women Only' survived the cultural upheavals of the 1960’s."
