When alumni look at what made their Miami Experience so memorable, many reflect back to their participation in student groups and organizations.
Below is the current list of receptions and open houses taking place during Alumni Weekend 2010. Most of these group events will take place on Saturday, June 19, 2010, between 2:00-5:00 p.m. at various locations around campus.

- 1809 Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered

- ALAS
The Association of Latino and American Students (ALAS) invites their fellow ALAS alumni and current students for a reception. The event is being held at the new Multicultural Opportunities office in Room 336 in the Shriver Center. Join classmates and fellow ALAS members to learn more about what current students are doing on campus and chat with current faculty. The event will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. For more information, contact Steve Warden.
- All-Greek Alumni Reception & Open House
An open invitation is extended to alumni and families of all current and past Miami fraternities and sororities. Get updates on the current Greek community and visit with the university staff. The reception will be on Saturday from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.
- Alpha Sigma Alpha
Join Alpha Sigs from all eras at the Reunion at Alumni Weekend! We'll meet on Saturday, June 19 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Food Court at Shriver Center (The Res). Look for Red and White balloons to mark the spot. Refreshments can be purchased at the Food Court. Don't forget to bring scrapbooks and pictures to share memories and your camera to record the day's events! Take this opportunity to visit Oxford and reconnect with Miami and Alpha Sigma Alpha. - Architecture and Interior Design Department
The Department of Architecture and Interior Design will host an Open House at Alumni Hall on Saturday from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Building tours, a display of student work, and refreshments will be provided at 101 Alumni Hall. Contact Melanie Vaughn or 513-529-7210 or John Weigand or 513-529-4903.
- Art Department
The Department of Art will host a reception from 2:00 –4:00 p.m. on Saturday starting from the Fine Arts Plaza area behind Shriver. Enjoy a tour of the facilities, refreshments, and chat with faculty and friends. For further details, contact Heather Kogge, (513) 529-5217.
- Athletics
Miami Athletic Family Reunion - Miami Athletic Family members and fans are invited to join us at the Gross Center for a reception on Saturday, June 19th from 2:00-4:00 p.m. We have invited a panel of representatives to discuss the team-behind-the-team, to share current student-athlete experiences, and to tell stories of memorable Miami moments. - Beta Theta Pi, Class of 1955

- Black Alumni

- Campus Owls
The Campus Owls will be featured at the Alumni Dance on Friday evening. Rehearsals are scheduled for Thursday afternoon, evening and Friday morning in the Heritage Room at the Shriver Center. A Reunion Luncheon will be held Friday at noon, also in the Heritage Room. Even if you are not planning to play in the band, all Campus Owls are welcome to attend the luncheon. Contact Cathy Greene.
- Chi Omega
 Chi Omega Reunion Flashback Lunch at Harris Dining Hall. Recall the days of meal plans like “Passport” and “Diplomat” with an old fashioned dining hall lunch. Graduates of 2005 celebrating their 5-year reunion welcome all pledge classes of returning Chi Omega sisters and their families for lunch at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 19th. We will be heading over to the suite for the open house following lunch. Questions, hoots or ideas, contact Sarah Kelley (Sigma Alpha ’02 & Miami ’05) or (614) 213-1315. Purchase lunch tickets online or use the registration form. The ticket cost includes a full buffet lunch and beverages.
- Department of Educational Leadership
The Department of Educational Leadership doctoral graduates from the School of Education, Health and Society will be celebrating on Saturday, June 19. The reunion will be in McGuffey Hall. For more information, contact Beth Sims, (513) 529-1343.
- School of Engineering and Applied Science
The School of Engineering will have an Open House in the High Bay area on Friday from 1-4 p.m. and Saturday, from 9 a.m. -12 p.m. and 1-4 p.m. in the High-Bay area, room 57 EGB. This is the main engineering laboratory for the department of Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering. It is a learning environment for students to apply problem solving methods, hands-on team-based design and lab exercises and projects. Examples of equipment include robotics, thermal and fluid systems, flexible-manufacturing system, stand-alone automated systems and a Rapid-Prototyping lab (across from the High-Bay area). - Equestrian Center
Equestrian Alumni and anyone interested in the Equestrian Center are welcome to attend on Saturday from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. A brief history of Miami Riding, information on current events, activities, and future plans and an introduction of the 50-year Alumni will take place. - Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship
Alumni of Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship will gather to renew friendships and have fellowship on Saturday from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Shriver Center Haines Food Court, South dining room. For more information, contact Dennis Dudley.
- Jewish Alumni
All alumni interested in Jewish life on Miami’s campus and beyond are warmly invited to a reception where you’ll:
- Find out what all the buzz is about with Jewish life at Miami this year.
- Meet the new Hillel Director, Rabbi Rachel Gartner (see the staff page) and hear about her vision for the future of Jewish life at Miami.
- Learn about events and opportunities for Miami Jewish alumni.
- Catch up with old friends, or make some new connections.

- Recreational Sports Center
The Recreational Sports Center will host a reception for alumni employees on Saturday from 2-4 p.m. in the lobby. A special emphasis on the history of recreation will be displayed in the facility's concourse. Contact Mike Arnos for additional information.
- School of Fine Arts
The School of Fine Arts will host a cocktail reception in the newly renovated Presser Hall on Friday, June 18, from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. All Miami alumni and friends are welcome to attend for an opportunity to hear an update on the SFA, interact with faculty, and enjoy a student performance or two. Hors d’oeuvres will be offered. The location is 222 Presser Hall. For further details and to RSVP, contact Heather Kogge or (513) 529-5217.
- Sigma Sigma Sigma
Please come to an Open House on Saturday, June 19 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. in the living room at 133 MacCracken Hall. Come to meet and greet your sisters from years gone by and to renew old friendships! Contact Cherie Pettit Pandora for more details.
- Speech Pathology and Audiology
The Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology will have an Open House at the MU Speech and Hearing Clinic on Saturday from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. They will provide clinic tours and an ongoing slide show of the Speech Pathology and Audiology program in 55 Bachelor Hall. Alumni will also be invited to share memories of the late Dr. Jim Malott. Contact Kathleen Hutchinson, Ph.D. for more information.
- Division of Student Affairs
The Division of Student Affairs is hosting an open house on Saturday, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the newly renovated Warfield Hall. Meet with staff from the Vice President for Student Affairs, Dean of Students, Residence Life, New Student Orientation, Second-Year Programs, Community Engagement and Service, and the Wilkes Leadership Institute. View a video of interviews with current SOULS’s (Student Orientation Undergraduate Leaders) in the New Student Programs Office or view a video from the Community Engagement and Service Office detailing the work that they are doing.

- Theatre Department
The Department of Theatre will host a reception on Saturday from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. starting from the Fine Arts Plaza behind Shriver. Enjoy a tour of the facilities, cookies and punch, and fellowship with members of the Department. Contact Karen Smith or (513) 529-3053.
- Theatre Department
 “Come to the Cabaret!” Join Theatre Alumni and Friends for an evening of entertainment in the Center for the Performing Arts’ Studio Theatre. Reconnect with old friends (and watch them perform) over drinks and dessert on Friday, June 18 from 9-11pm. Ticket price includes dessert and coffee. Cash bar also provided.
