Who comes to Alumni Weekend?
Anyone of any age who loves Miami is welcome to join the fun! The weekend is designed to be enjoyable and relaxing for all Miami graduates, their families, guests, parents of current students, and friends of the University.
Alumni Weekend 2011 provides an opportunity for classes that end in 6 or 1 to celebrate a special reunion like 10, 25, or 50 years since graduation. Also celebrating reunions during Alumni Weekend are a number of groups, which are found by clicking on Group Reunions in the left menu of LINKS.
However, you do not have to be celebrating a special reunion to enjoy Alumni Weekend. All Miamians, regardless of class year, and families are welcome. There is something for everyone!

What role do class and group committee volunteers play in the success of Alumni Weekend?
Class and group committee volunteers play a vital role in the success of Alumni Weekend. Their primary responsibility is to contact their classmates to encourage their attendance at Alumni Weekend. They also plan class activities and host events throughout the weekend. The Alumni Weekend programming staff assists committee members by providing class lists, postcards, and any other resources necessary to make their communication efforts as easy as possible. If you would like to serve on your class or group committee, click the online Volunteer Response Form, fill it out and submit it. For more information regarding serving as a committee member, contact the Alumni Weekend programming staff at AlumniWeekend@muohio.edu.

What is the Alumni Weekend attire?
Red and white casual attire is appropriate for most events throughout the weekend. In mid-June, it can be quite hot and there is always the chance for storms, so prepare accordingly.
There is one exception to the casual rule. If you are celebrating your 50-year reunion, your Thursday night opening reception and dinner is a dressy affair. Jackets with ties for the men and dresses or dressy pantsuits are appropriate for the women.
If you are in need of Miami attire, look no further than the Alumni Shop. You will find a variety of casual Miami gear that you can purchase on-line. Miami Merchandise is also available to purchase during Alumni Weekend at the Welcome Center and the Alumni Tent Area on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Are children welcome at the luncheons and other activities throughout the weekend?
There are children’s meals available for those 10 and under at Saturday and Sunday breakfasts, most luncheons, and Friday and Saturday dinners. These tickets can be purchased on the registration form. Because of space restrictions, the Class of `61 dinner, `61 luncheon, the Classes of `56-`51-`46-`41 Dinner, and the Hughes Society luncheon are for class members only and spouse or guest.
The Alumni Association coordinates the KidZone, a centrally located space for children within the Reunion Tent Area for Saturday evening.

What happens if it rains?
The weekend proceeds as planned. The only reason we will not hold an Alumni Weekend activity is due to severe weather or the imminent arrival of such weather. In case of rain, we will move some events to an indoor location, and post signs and make announcements.

Where can I stay during Alumni Weekend?
We have a limited number of rooms at the Marcum Conference Center and at local hotels reserved for those celebrating their 50-year reunion and the Hughes Society class members. These locations fill up very quickly and well in advance of Alumni Weekend. Reservations will begin in late January.
For all classes, on-campus housing is available in residence halls. We make every effort to house reunion classes or reunion groups together. If you are interested in housing in our residence halls, you will be able to make your reservation when you register in the spring. To insure we have your correct email address, click here to update. We will send an email when online registration is available.
More information about cost and room amenities is also available on the Alumni Weekend Housing and Transportation webpage.

Are there accommodations for individuals with special needs?
Please notify the Alumni Weekend staff as early as possible if you have special needs. Staff will work with you to create a supportive situation that will allow you to experience everything Alumni Weekend has to offer.
We take dietary needs very seriously and work with the catering staff to accommodate special dietary and allergy restrictions. Please indicate your needs on your registration form.
The majority of events are located in the Shriver Center and around the south end of campus. Walking is the primary mode of transportation for most alumni. Shuttle buses travel a published route around campus throughout the weekend. They travel to and from major events at regularly scheduled intervals. Golf carts will also be available for our alumni with mobility restrictions.
If you need special assistance with transportation, room assignments, or dietary needs, include your information when you register. We will direct your questions to the Alumni Association at either (513) 529-5957 or (866) MU-ALUMS or you can also send an email to AlumniWeekend@muohio.edu.
