What is Networking?
It is building relationships – and supporting others! More precisely it is creating links from people we know to people they know in an organized way, for a specific purpose, while remaining committed to doing our part and expecting nothing in return. (Power Networking Fisher & Vilas)
Why should you attend a Miami University 5 Minute Networking® Event?
To further cultivate relationships between fellows Miamians and expand your professional and social networks.
How does a 5 Minute Networking® event run?
Upon arrival, everyone will be assigned a seat number where they will begin the networking event. Half of the attendees will be in a stationary seat where they will remain throughout the entire event and the other half of the attendees will be in a rotating seat where they will move down a seat after each five minute increment. Attendees will be notified every five minutes that it is time to rotate by the ringing of a bell. This then allows for approximately 30 seconds to wrap up all final thoughts and conversations before moving on to the next person. Half way through the event, a ten minute break will occur and the second half of the networking event will resume immediately afterward. Once the event is finished, you will have the opportunity to review who you have met on the 5 Minute Networking® website afterward.
