More than 40 Miami alumni gathered at the Osteria Via Stato in the Near North Side of Chicago Thursday, Nov. 10 for the chapter’s second annual beer tasting event.
Those in attendance were treated to hand-passed hors d’oeuvres while beer educators spoke about the beer pairings and the art of blind tasting. An assortment of handcrafted beers and accompanying guides detailing the history and unique facts of each beer were also available.
To top off (no pun intended) the night, Chicago-area alumni also received the opportunity to participate in this year’s Salvation Army Angel Tree Program for the upcoming holiday season. The Angel Tree Program allows individuals and/or groups to “adopt” those in need and in turn donate unwrapped gifts based on the needs of those whom they adopt. Thanks to the generous efforts of Chicago Chapter alumni who chose “Angels” at the beer tasting event, underprivileged children and seniors will have a brighter holiday this year.
Courtesy of alumnus Greg Gibbs, the Chicago Bagel Authority on Belmont Avenue will serve as the drop-off location for the Angel Tree Program donations, as well as the Chicago Chapter’s new monthly meeting location.
