"In a completely rational society, the best of us would aspire to be teachers and the rest of us would have to settle for something less, because passing civilization along from one generation to the next ought to be the highest honor and the highest responsibility anyone could have." - Lee Iacocca
There is no greater recognition for an educator than to be honored by her/his students. Established by the Alumni Association in 1983, the Effective Educator Award annually recognizes uncommon educators who enlighten and inspire their students to achieve new heights. In the words of an unknown author, "The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires." This award is about recognizing those great educators at Miami who truly inspire.
This year graduates of the Class of 2006 have the privilege of submitting nominations. Please take a few moments to reflect upon your Miami experience and share your thoughts about a special educator who profoundly impacted your life. PLEASE BE THOROUGH IN YOUR NOMINATION TO HELP THE SELECTION COMMITTEE FULLY UNDERSTAND THE IMPACT THIS EDUCATOR HAD ON YOUR LIFE AND POSSIBLY THE LIVES OF OTHERS. All nominations must be submitted no later than August 2, 2010. Click here to submit your nomination for the 2010-11 Effective Educator Award.
Along with one overall winner selected, each nominee will be recognized with a golden apple lapel pin and certificate at a special reception during Homecoming week.
