Mr. Henry C. (Hank) Newell

CEO of Wausau Paper to speak at Foundation's annual Student Recognition Dinner
Mr. Henry C. (Hank) Newell graduated from the University of Florida in 1978 with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration and was commissioned an officer in the United States Army serving nine years on active duty and eleven years in the National Guard. He received a Masters in Business Administration from Wake Forest University in 1985.

He began his Paper and Packaging industry career with James River Corporation in 1988 holding a progression of finance, operations and general management leadership positions. He participated in the acquisition and integration of Fort Howard by James River, that formed Fort James Corporation in 1997, and the subsequent integration as Fort James
was acquired by Georgia Pacific in 2000.

In 2002, Mr. Newell joined Packaging Dynamics Corporation as their Vice President and Chief Financial Officer and in 2005 joined Atlas Holdings, a private equity investor, as Chief Financial Officer for several of their Paper and Packaging sector companies.

In September 2007, Mr. Newell was recruited to join Wausau Paper and progressed from Corporate Vice President, Business Development, to Senior Vice President, Specialty Products to Senior Vice President, Paper with the combination of the Specialty Products and Printing & Writing businesses. Hank most recently served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer responsible for both the Tissue and Paper segments. He was promoted to President and Chief Executive Officer of Wausau Paper on January 1, 2012.

Hank's industry experience includes towel and tissue, specialty papers, printing and writing, pulp, wastepaper, wood products, flexible packaging, folding carton, and industrial packaging. He is married to Rebecca (Becky) who was born and raised in Racine, Wisconsin. The couple has four adult children and resides in Mosinee, Wisconsin. We look forward to hearing about his vast and impressive career experiences at our annual banquet on April 3rd.
