Miami University’s 172nd annual spring commencement ceremony was hosted Saturday, May 7, at Yager Stadium. A total of 3,967 degrees were awarded, including 24 certificates, 244 associates, 3,296 bachelor’s, 385 master’s and 18 doctorates of philosophy.

Indra Nooyi, chairman and chief executive officer of PepsiCo, addressed the graduates of the Class of 2011 and received an honorary doctorate of law. Nooyi advised graduates that success can be obtained by having passion, optimism, confidence, giving maximum effort, and believing in others. She also challenged the graduates to provide solutions in a changing world that is ripe for new ideas.

Recognition ceremonies for each college and school were held individually on Saturday and Sunday, where bachelor’s recipients were honored.
