ALUMNI BAND VICE PRESIDENT ELECTION
Message from Departing President
When I was I elected to become Alumni VP four years ago, and President two years ago, I had a goal to increase Alumni Band Member attendance at our two major events, Homecoming and Alumni Weekend. Each of these events has grown in attendance over the past four years. This past Homecoming it was very rewarding to see 150 Alumni members marching on the field. As I come to the end of my term, I hope you all continue my challenge to recruit others to participate in Alumni Band events. I also urge you to take a more active role in supporting our new President Doug Cutler going forward.
2010 Alumni Weekend is right around the corner. I invite you all to join us June 18th-20th in reuniting with other MUAB members. Alumni weekend is a great time to return to campus and be part of a band reunion. It is a family event so everyone is invited. Please check out the schedule of events for the Alumni Band.
Finally, as you will read in this newsletter, elections for Alumni VP will be starting soon. I encourage you to go to the website and vote. I also encourage you to get more involved by helping Doug and the new VP to make the Alumni Band even better. It has been a truly rewarding experience and I look forward to what the future brings.
Raymond J Krabbe ‘98 MUAB President

Homecoming 2009
The Bicentennial edition of Homecoming was one to remember with over 150 alumni participating in a weekend filled with activities! The weekend started out with a victory for Miami RedHawks hockey against the Michigan State Spartans in the Steve Cady Arena at the Goggin Ice Center. The Alumni Pep Band led the students, alumni, and fans in the fight song and cheers as the RedHawks claimed another victory for the season. Saturday morning started out bright and early with breakfast and rehearsal to prepare for the big pregame performance at the Miami RedHawks football game versus the North Illinois Huskies. A special edition for the Bicentennial celebration was the Munchkin Miami Marchers, which allowed our future Miamians to march with their parents on the field. The game was not a victory but the Alumni Band and Marching Band continued playing and cheering throughout the entire game. Saturday evening concluded with a reception to celebrate the events of the day as well as the Bicentennial. At the reception, the Alumni Band had the opportunity to visit with old friends and watch both the Bicentennial Slideshow and their pregame performance. The Marching Band seniors also had the opportunity to join in on the fun and see all the excitement they have to look forward to as a future member of the Alumni Band. The weekend activities concluded on Sunday morning with the annual game of Frisbee Golf at the Western Fields. The weekend was one to remember as the Alumni Band had a record breaking number return to celebrate Miami and its 200 years. Check out the photo album!

KEEP IN TOUCH
The MUAB Listserv The Miami Alumni Band listserv is a wonderful tool for keeping everyone informed. The listserv acts like an email copy machine. It takes a single message and automatically distributes it to all the addresses on the list. We can send one email and let everyone know what is going on or let you know when the web page has been updated.
If you wish to be added to the listserv, please send a note to Kent Covert, the listserv administrator at covertka@muohio.edu. You will receive an email confirming that you have been added to the list and a set of directions for managing your inclusion, including how to send a message, how to set your options, and how to remove your name from the list, if you so desire.
If you want to find the address of another alumni band member on the listserve, send an email to listserv@muohio.edu. In the body of the email, write "review mumbalum" (without the quotes) and the server will send you, via email, a list of all the members on the listserve and their email addresses.
Please keep us updated of your changes in email addresses. Send your address changes to Kent at covertka@muohio.edu
Our one warning/request, is to not clutter the listserve with forwards, jokes, or spam. Remember that when you send that one email, it goes to over 130 people....that's over 130 people that won't like you very much if you send them a warning about the "good times" virus or a free trip to Disneyland. Please be cautious.
Snail Mail Please make sure your postal address is up to date with the university so you will receive mailings, newsletters and the like from us as well. If you have moved, or have a hunch your address is not correct on our mailing list, send a note to the alumni records department at AlumniRecords@muohio.edu, or mail c/o Murstein Alumni Center, 725 E. Chestnut St., Oxford, OH 45056.
You can update your information online but using the Online Services Web page.
