Homecoming 2008
On Saturday, October 25, 2008, nearly 50 alumni and their families came to celebrate another Homecoming tradition for the MUAB. The day started out with rehearsal at Millett Hall and Yager Stadium. You would have thought these alums graduated yesterday with how good they sounded! After the routine was perfected everybody headed down to Tailgate Town to eat and mingle with their old friends in the MUAB tailgating tent.
The Miami RedHawks took on Kent State Flashes at 3:30 p.m., but the game could not start before the MUAB “Stepped Right Off.” They proudly marched across Yager Stadium in the Block “M” they remember so well from their time at Miami. The Miami RedHawks did not play their best game against the Kent State Flashes, but that did not stop the MUAB from playing on through the entire game and showing their support to their alma mater.
After the game everyone headed over to the Marcum Conference Center for the MUAB reception. The reception was filled with red and white, and the spirit of Miami. Everyone gave thanks to Dave Shaffer and Jack Liles for their years of service to the Miami Marching Band. The reception culminated with the video footage of the pre-show performance. The MUAB gave the Miami Marching Band a real run for their money!
Homecoming 2009
Homecoming 2009, Saturday, October 24, will be a monumental weekend for all Miami alumni as they pay tribute to their alma mater during its Bicentennial Celebration. Come march and help the MUAB reach its goal of 200 MARCHERS IN 2009! Everyone get on the phones or e-mail your friends and spread the word about Homecoming 2009. It will be the biggest Homecoming celebration Miami has ever seen! If you are interested in helping recruit new MUAB members, please contact Erin Taute at tauteel@muohio.edu or 513-529-6056.
ALUMNI BAND CONNECTIONS
Fall 2008 Newsletter Join the Miami Alumni Band for a fun and memorable Homecoming Weekend KEEP IN TOUCH
The MUAB Listserv The Miami Alumni Band listserv is a wonderful tool for keeping everyone informed. The listserv acts like an email copy machine. It takes a single message and automatically distributes it to all the addresses on the list. We can send one email and let everyone know what is going on or let you know when the web page has been updated.
If you wish to be added to the listserv, please send a note to Kent Covert, the listserv administrator at covertka@muohio.edu. You will receive an email confirming that you have been added to the list and a set of directions for managing your inclusion, including how to send a message, how to set your options, and how to remove your name from the list, if you so desire.
If you want to find the address of another alumni band member on the listserve, send an email to listserv@muohio.edu. In the subject heading and in the body of the email, write "review mumbalum" (without the quotes) and the server will send you, via email, a list of all the members on the listserve and their email addresses.
Please keep us updated of your changes in email addresses. Send your address changes to Kent at covertka@muohio.edu
Our one warning/request, is to not clutter the listserve with forwards, jokes, or spam. Remember that when you send that one email, it goes to over 130 people....that's over 130 people that won't like you very much if you send them a warning about the "good times" virus or a free trip to Disneyland. Please be cautious.
Snail Mail Please make sure your postal address is up to date with the university so you will receive mailings, newsletters and the like from us as well. If you have moved, or have a hunch your address is not correct on our mailing list, send a note to the alumni records department at AlumniRecords@muohio.edu, or mail c/o Murstein Alumni Center, 725 E. Chestnut St., Oxford, OH 45056.
You can update your information online but using the Online Services Web page.
