Researchers turn ideas into inventions >>
Miami has 18 active patents in its portfolio. The latest patent, issued on June 4, involves a process converting any type of cell into brown fat invitro. Research continues into whether the process will work in animals. If so, it could have potential implications in the battles against obesity, diabetes and cancer.

The Master of Environmental Science (M.En.) degree, an interdisciplinary professional program in the Institute for the Environment and Sustainability (IES), has been officially designated as a Professional Science Master’s (PSM) program.
