Named for our beloved and traditional Love and Honor greeting, which, in turn, comes from our fight song chorus, "Love and Honor to Miami...." Our code begins with the words, "I Am Miami," thus uniting Miami tradition and values.

Miami is ranked 7th among national universities in the inaugural U.S. News Best Colleges for Veterans rankings. Top-ranked schools in the Best Colleges rankings participate in federal initiatives helping veterans and active service members apply, pay for and complete their degrees.

Researchers turn ideas into inventions >>
Miami has 18 active patents in its portfolio. The latest patent, issued on June 4, involves a process converting any type of cell into brown fat invitro. Research continues into whether the process will work in animals. If so, it could have potential implications in the battles against obesity, diabetes and cancer.

Institute for the Environment and Sustainability receives national recognition >>
The Master of Environmental Science (M.En.) degree, an interdisciplinary professional program in the Institute for the Environment and Sustainability (IES), has been officially designated as a Professional Science Master’s (PSM) program. It is the first graduate program at Miami to achieve this national recognition.
