Phillip Shriver Memorial Service Video Available Online
Alumni, friends, and family gathered on Saturday, May 28, in Millett Hall to pay their respects to Phillip R. Shriver, Miami University president emeritus, who died April 23. The service, presented by the Shriver family and the university, included musical performances by Miami University Glee Club alumni and readings by family, colleagues, and many others whose lives Shriver touched.
A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words: Alumni Weekend Photos Now Online
Approximately, 2,000 alumni returned to campus for Alumni Weekend June 16-19 to experience a weekend of memories and classes without quizzes and to look at a detailed architectural model of the Armstrong Student Center. A new event for the weekend, an Uptown Welcome Back Party Friday evening included music and dancing and encouraged the Oxford community to join with alumni in the fun. Students' Involvement in Community Service Recognized Nationally
Miami is on the 2010 President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for the fourth straight year. Sponsored by the Corporation for National and Community Service, the acknowledgement focuses on the scope of service projects, the number of courses that integrate service learning, and the school's long-term commitment to campus-community partnerships. Academic Progress Rate (APR) Superb Among NCAA Division I Programs
All 15 Miami varsity athletic programs exceeded the NCAA's national average for public universities in their respective sports. APR is a measure of academic eligibility and retention of student-athletes that covers a four-year composite, dating back to the 2006-2007 academic year. Three Miami programs - women's softball, men's cross country and men's golf - achieved perfect scores of 1,000.
