President’s Report is a Strategic Roadmap
On Dec. 10, President David Hodge presented to the board of trustees his response to the Strategic Priorities Task Force recommendations along with his specific action plans listing measurable goals, objectives, action steps, and a timeline for each category.  The board accepted the report and implementation on several items begins immediately. University Announces New Provost
Conrado “Bobby” Gempesaw, dean of the Lerner College of Business and Economics at the University of Delaware, has accepted the position of provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at Miami University.  He will officially begin May 1, 2011.

The Nation's Biggest Turnaround Story this Season
The Miami RedHawks, Mid-American Conference Champions and America's most improved college football team, will take on Middle Tennessee State of the Sun Belt Conference in the Bowl Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, in Mobile, Ala. Connect to Miami No Matter Where You Are
Apple recently approved a Miami iPhone application that will put campus news, events, athletic updates, and other information right at your fingertips.  Jerry Gannod, director of Miami’s M-Learning Center, oversaw production of this project designed by three senior students.  The app is available at the iTunes store.  For a free download, click here

Students Win Gilman Scholarships
Four students received the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship to study abroad next semester.  The program’s aim is to award scholarships to U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving federal Pell Grant funding, thus increasing global experiences for diverse students.

How Sweet It Is
Two Interior Design students won top awards in the Planning and Visual Education Partnership (PAVE) 2010 Student Design Competition sponsored by Godiva.  A record-breaking 440 college-level students involved in retail planning, visual merchandising, and branding programs participated in this year’s contest.
