Charlie Coles Announces Retirement
After 16 seasons at the helm of the Miami University men's basketball program, 22 seasons as a collegiate head coach (all in the Mid-American Conference) and nearly half a century as a basketball coach at various levels, Miami University head coach Charlie Coles announced his retirement, following the RedHawks loss to Toledo in the first round of the MAC Tournament. Frick Adds to Lifelong Miami Commitment
A $100,000 gift from Ray Frick (Miami '68) is supporting Miami University's Football Restricted Fund while also increasing the impact of the undergraduate athletic training scholarship named in honor of Frick's brother. For the complete release, click here.


Crazy Eight! RedHawks National Champions…Again!
Winning its eighth consecutive national crown at the 2012 U.S. National Championships, Miami University's collegiate synchronized skating team tied figure skater Michelle Kwan's record of eight-straight national titles. The RedHawks had already set the record for most consecutive national titles at any level of synchronized skating in 2011. For the complete release, click here.


Miami at Ohio State Football Tickets
Tickets for the Miami at Ohio State football game on September 1, 2012 are now available to the public. In order to purchase tickets for the Miami at Ohio State football game you must purchase at least two (2) 2012 Miami Football season tickets AND be an active member of the Red & White Club. Your Red & White Club membership level will determine how many Miami at Ohio State tickets you are eligible to purchase.

  • Active membership at the $100-$249 level qualifies you to purchase up to two (2) Miami at Ohio State tickets
  • Active membership at the $249-$499 level qualifies you to purchase up to four (4) Miami at Ohio State tickets
  • Active membership at the $500 level or higher qualifies you to purchase up to six (6) Miami at Ohio State tickets

Hirschfeld Chosen as Miami’s CCHA Scholar-Athlete of the Year
Miami University senior forward Alden Hirschfeld was named the RedHawks' CCHA Scholar-Athlete of the Year nominee, the Central Collegiate Hockey Association announced, as the league revealed each team's candidate. He is now eligible to claim CCHA Scholar-Athlete of the Year, which will be announced at the 2012 CCHA Awards, presented by RBC Financial Group, on Thursday, March 15. Detroit Bound: No. 11 Miami Advances to CCHA Semis with 4-1 Win
With a 4-1 win over No. 15/15 Michigan State Saturday night, the No. 11/11 Miami hockey team clinched a berth in the CCHA semifinals as the RedHawks completed a CCHA quarterfinal series sweep of the Spartans (19-15-4) at Steve Cady Arena. With the victory, fourth-seeded Miami (23-13-2) extended its winning streak to eight games, its longest since the 2009-10 season, while securing a third-straight trip to Joe Louis Arena for the CCHA semifinals, tying the longest streak in program history. Mavunga, Sullivan Earn All-MAC Honors
Senior forward Julian Mavunga (Indianapolis, Ind./Brownsburg) earned First-Team All-Mid-American Conference honors, while freshman guard Brian Sullivan (Upper Arlington, Ohio/Upper Arlington) was named to the MAC All-Freshman Team, the conference office announced. Miami Hockey Supports ‘You Can Play’ Project
When Miami Hockey student manager Brendan Burke lost his life in a tragic car accident in 2010, it was only the beginning of the fight for acceptance for gay athletes in the sports arena. Brendan's brother, Patrick, has carried on the fight by launching the "You Can Play" project, and both current and former RedHawks are helping spread the word. For the complete release, click here. Temple Withdraws From MAC
The Mid-American Conference (MAC) announced in conjunction with Temple University that the two parties have reached an agreement for Temple to leave the Conference immediately. Temple spent five seasons (2007-11) with the Conference. For the complete release, click here.

Smith, Czarnik Finalists for CCHA’s Top Honors
After each collected all-league honors, Miami University junior forward Reilly Smith and freshman forward Austin Czarnik each have a chance to garner more hardware as they were both named finalists for one of the CCHA's major awards, the Central Collegiate Hockey Association Announced Thursday. The winners of each of the CCHA's six major awards will be announced at the CCHA Awards on March 15 in Detroit, Mich. For the complete release, click here.

Goffena Places Eighth in Heptathlon at U.S. Championships
Despite being the lone collegiate athlete at the U.S. Indoor Combined Events Track & Field Championships, Miami University senior Jordan Goffena finished eighth in the heptathlon at Indiana University's Gladstein Field House. The two-day, seven-event competition was held Saturday and Sunday. For the complete release, click here.

Crummy, Johnson lead Miami to upset of Ole Miss
John Crummy had a career-high three hits and drove in three runs, lifting Miami to a 9-8 win over 16th-ranked Ole Miss at Swayze Field. Alex Johnson was 4-for-5 and scored once, while Matt Honchel added three hits and two runs scored. For the complete release, click here.

Softball Upsets 23rd tanked USF, 2-1, in Eight Innings
Some timely hits and a great tag-team pitching performance from Paige Myers and Jessica Simpson led the Miami University softball team to a 2-1 upset victory over 23rd-ranked USF Sunday in eight innings. The game completed play at the Under Armour Invitational and was the third straight game the RedHawks had gone to extra innings in. Miami improves to 10-4 on the season, while the Bulls fall to 13-4. Miami Football Holds Pro Day
Several NFL scouts flocked to Oxford, Ohio and Yager Stadium as the Miami University football team hosted its annual Pro Day for departing seniors to work out and show off their skills to NFL personnel. For the complete release, click here.
