Mission, Vision & Values
Mission Statement
Adopted October 23, 2004
The Miami University Alumni Association honors Miami's heritage and fosters lifelong connections among alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends of the University. In cooperation with our University partners, we encourage meaningful involvement and leadership from all alumni to benefit the University. We cultivate goodwill and support for Miami by sponsoring social, educational, philanthropic, and service-oriented programs.
Vision Statement

The Miami University Alumni Association engages alumni and friends with the University community to strengthen Miami.
Values Statement
The Miami University Alumni Association believes that its responsibility is to work with the entire campus community and alumni to cultivate a sense of loyalty among all Miamians towards Alma Mater. A Miami education involves a life-long process of learning, teaching, leading, and serving to advance the University. With each passing year the diversity of Miami's students, alumni, faculty, staff, administrators, and friends of the University increases. We therefore believe it is important for all members of the Miami University Alumni Association to focus attention on the following four value statements.

We value the relationship that all Miamians have with the University. This relationship begins when someone joins the Miami family and lasts a lifetime. It is a two-way relationship that requires time and attention to strengthen and grow.
We value the service that Miamians provide to the campus community and their local communities on behalf of the University. Miamians around the world are involved in bettering the lives of others. Our University has been built on the service that Miamians have provided since 1809. When someone serves on behalf of the University the individual honors that history and helps to establish the future. The future of our campus and our home communities is based on continuing this ethic of service.
We value the philanthropy that Miamians contribute to the University. Generations of Miamians have contributed financially to the University. Each Miamian has an opportunity and a responsibility to carry on that tradition. Our philosophy regarding philanthropy is that we want all Miamians to contribute what they can, when they can, because their financial gifts help to maintain the University and advance Miami's commitment to excellence in undergraduate education.
We value the heritage of our University and hope that all Miamians strive to learn from the past as we focus on the future. Our University was founded in 1809. In the nearly 200 years that have passed since that time we have learned many lessons and influenced many lives. As we look to the future we must learn from our past in order to make Miami a better place for future generations. |
