Miami's “Summer Tradition” was a great success. Another Alumni Weekend has ended, but the memories will last a lifetime. Alumni, family, and friends enjoyed live entertainment, Alumni College, fantastic weather, and loads of fun.
Alumni Weekend 2008 provided attendees with a relaxing weekend away from home, back in the arms of "Mother Miami." There was laughter, reminiscing, and even a few tears to be seen.
The spirit of camaraderie was strong again this year, with fun-filled events bringing together all of Miami’s alumni and friends on Friday and Saturday nights. Friday night featured the debut of the Alumni Dinner and Dance, with Miami’s own Campus Owls providing the music.
Saturday night’s AlumniFest entertainment featured the Dueling Pianos of Rod Nimtz `79 MA `81 and Julius “Juice” Davis `78, followed by the vocal stylings of The Mistics – back for a third year in a row. There was something for everyone, including the KidZone for hours of family fun and the decade party tents for catching up with classmates and friends.
As always, hundreds of Miami students, administrators, faculty and staff helped make Alumni Weekend 2008 a celebration to be remembered. The Alumni Association thanks each member of the Miami community for their support of Alumni Weekend.
If you were unable to attend Alumni Weekend 2008, make plans to celebrate with us as part of Miami’s Bicentennial Celebration in 2009 on June 18-21. You will not want to miss this fabulous celebration of Miami’s 200 years.
